I have a story that has haunted me for years, and I need to hear from other women if they’ve ever gone through something similar.

In 2019, I met a well-known businessman from the Copperbelt. He was wealthy, respected, and had an aura of mystery around him. I was a student in Kitwe at the time, and we started dating. But something about him always puzzled me.

No matter how close we got, he never wanted to be near me whenever I was on my period. It wasn’t just a casual preference—before meeting, he would always ask, “Are you done with your menses?” If the answer was no, he’d cancel our plans immediately.

I found it strange. I had dated other men before, and none of them had an issue with period sex. Some were even completely fine with it. But this man? He acted like my period was a deadly curse.

Curious and a little suspicious, I decided to test him.

The Night Everything Changed
One evening, we made plans to meet. But this time, I was on my period. Instead of using a regular sanitary pad, I used cotton wool, rolled it up, inserted it, and wore my panties like everything was normal.

Dinner went well, and we headed to his place. But from the moment we got into bed, something was off.

This man—who was always ready for action—was behaving strangely. Every time he touched me, he flinched like he had just burned himself. His hands jerked away as if my skin was on fire.

Then, out of nowhere, he started coughing—a deep, rough cough that sounded inhuman. It wasn’t normal at all. It was like a dog barking, deep and hoarse, almost growling.

I sat up, alarmed.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Maybe it’s the spices in the food,” he replied, his voice shaky.

But I wasn’t convinced. The way he was acting, the way he refused to touch me, and the way his body reacted—it wasn’t normal.

We didn’t sleep that night. He seemed restless, disturbed, and almost fearful. Then, without warning, he got up, grabbed his car keys, and insisted on dropping me home—at midnight.

From that night on, he never called me again. Not even a text.

Was He Hiding Something?
I’ve spent years wondering—what exactly happened that night? Was it just superstition? A hidden belief system? Or something darker?

I want to hear from other ladies—have you ever experienced something like this? A man who reacts strangely to your period? Or someone whose behavior changes in ways that make no sense?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. I need answers.
